As parents, you may be struggling to think of ways to get your kids outside, especially as days turn colder and darker. Or maybe you’re worried about keeping them busy over Christmas holidays. That’s where we come in! And the best thing? It’s all free.
We have put together a series of crafts that encourage your children to put down their screens, get their coats on and get arty. From making leaf selfies to creating Christmas crafts, we have lots coming up for them to get stuck into.
So, supervise and hand it over. This one’s for them!
These Christmas bird feeders are great for you, and even better for wildlife. Not only do they look great, they are fun to make and can be hung outside for birds to feed from. It’s time to give your garden some festive cheer!
Supplies:
Step one: mix your seeds.
Get your seeds and vegetable fat/coconut oil and mix them in a bowl until combined.
Then place your cookie cutter on a piece of greaseproof paper and spoon in your mixture to fill it. Do this with whatever shapes you want to! You’ll be able to get more than 1 done with your mixture.
Step two: cool it.
Once you’ve spooned all of your mixture into your cookie cutters, you will need to put them in the fridge overnight. This will help them set into shape.
Make sure to create a small hole in the top so it can be hung up once it has cooled down! This can be done with a cocktail stick, metal straw or even a pencil.

Step three: hang it.
Now your bird feeders are set (they should be hard), you can pop your chosen twine through the hole and hand them outside. They are usually best hanging on a tree for birds to reach. And now your garden looks festive, too!
