When buying a bike it's important to pick the correct size of frame to suit your leg length, so that you get as comfortable and safe a ride as possible. The frame size is the distance between the middle of the pedal crank and the end of the seat tube (although some manufacturers only measure to the point where the seat tube and top tube intersect). To help you find your ideal size use the following instructions.
Step 1: Measure your inside leg length in centimeters. This is done by removing your shoes and measuring the distance from your sole to your crotch whilst standing upright. It's easier if someone helps you, but it's not hard to measure yourself as long as you take your time and are careful to remain as upright as possible.
Step 2: Compare your inside leg measurement to the charts below to find your frame size. If you are between sizes you can use your reach to work out which size to go for. To work out your reach measure your arm span (the distance between your middle fiinger tips when your arms are outstretched to the sides) and minus this from your height without shoes. If you are left with a positive reach number go for the bigger size, if you are left with a negative number (ie you height is greater than your arm span) go for the smaller size.
