Overall very happy with this bladder at the discounted price I got (£15).
The bladder opens by sliding the red clip off (which is reassuringly difficult) and unfolding (just once) the top to fill with water. The hose clips in to the bottom and can be unclipped when full with minimal leakage. The drinking end of the hose stumped me for a good 20mins (no instructions). There’s a cap that covers the valve (great!) then the valve must be pulled out to engage(?) so when biting water comes out. Without pulling out the valve to engage it you can suckle and bite all you like with no water coming out.
I would not advise getting this water bladder, used it once and noticed a leak the second time I went to use it, past the 28day return period so can't return. I suspect it was damaged when bought as someone had folded the top the wrong way and jammed the red plastic slider on. There is a small hole in the plastic and I have only had it at the top of my rucksack not near anything sharp.
Had the same platypus Water bladder for bladder for nearly 20years before this.
Very good hydration bladder, after a little brain work this is an excellent bladder. They fail to mention the valve stop on the mouthpiece end in the instructions which is a shame because everything else is described and is simple to use. For those who don't figure this out the cap is lifted off the mouthpiece then use your hand or mouth to pull on the end that is revealed. This opens the valve just at the bottom of the mouthpiece allowing the water to flow. After hydrating push the mouthpiece back down closing the valve stopping water flow. Perfect as I've been covered in water in the past.
I have tried this on one short hike as a trial. Getting water out of it is extremely hard work. I tried all sorts of things to see if I had it set up wrong or was doing something odd or if this is just how these things are. I have since purchased a hydropak with water flow that is how you would expect water to flow through any water bottle or tube - with ease. This product just doesn’t do the job well enough
Easy to assemble, good seal no leaks, glad I got the 3 ltr one.
Would definitely recommend.
