The difference between buoyancy aids and lifejackets
Buoyancy Aids are designed to assist with floating and are typically worn in more sheltered waters by the coast to provide the wearer with additional buoyancy. They’re used for all water sports such as kayaking, paddling, Paddleboarding, sailing and canoeing.
Lifejackets are designed to turn the wearer over onto their back if they are unconscious, to enable their airway to be free of the water and to support their head. They are typically worn by non-swimmers or less confident water users and are primarily designed for the younger wearer. They are cut and fitted in a way to still allow freedom of movement and enjoyment on the water whilst wearing them.
