A great option for family camping trips the Vango Icarus offers spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to 5 people. It has several features that make it suitable for various weather conditions, including Vango AirZone ventilation, which helps everyone stay breezy on hot days
The 4000mm HH polyester flysheet is both waterproof and durable, ensuring that you stay dry even during heavy rainfall. The tent also has a sewn-in groundsheet that prevents groundwater from entering the tent. The breathable inner fabric allows for condensation to pass through, ensuring that you stay dry and comfy.
The tent has two zipped full mesh doors, providing an entrance at the front and side of the tent, and two zipped half mesh inner doors, offering extra privacy. The sleeping area can be divided into two bedrooms, giving you some privacy and separation from the kids.
I bought this tent to go camping with my wife and 4 year old daughter. It withstood strong winds and rain. It’s a tent worth buying. Just ensure when erecting the 2 x tension straps on the inside are unclipped. The beds I bought were bigger than expected so we have used it as 2 rooms. I’m going to buy a festival done shelter to keep the chairs and tables in as we just used the car for storage.
After 2 weeks in North Wales…
POSITIVES: Very waterproof (4000HH rating). No impact / little in windy storms (but a bit noisy)
2 high doors. Good height in lounge. Lots of windows. Very easy to put up (start with middle black pole). Excellent value & design. Easy clip in bedroom system.
NEGATIVES: Front door hooks are high up so I extended them with a hair band loop to reach door toggle more easily. Internal curtain loop extended with hair band to close curtains.
5 guy ropes easily added at front & back for increased windproof for big storms.
2 padlocks on doors.
Noisy skirt on tent outer
The reason I have only given this tent 3 stars is because the inner pod is very transparent and
Its early stages of our use but the very first night absolutely chucked it down for hours and the tent was bone dry inside in morning- there may be worse conditions to come but that’s a very good start for the tent.
Straightforward to put up with two people and well laid out. I think for the price this is an excellent tent for a couple or small family and I recommend it. Simples!
It stood up like a dream to brisk winds by the Solent and within 2 weeks we were in a damp wooded valley by the Tamar and it kept out 12 hours of torrential rain. It's just the right size for me and my daughter because we can have our own rooms and the living area is perfect for our kit and a couple of chairs. That said, it's ample for a family of 4. Big, clear windows, so plenty of light, the black out bedrooms are pretty good and the securing straps did a good job of keeping it sturdy. A brilliant buy in my opinion.
AMAZING is an understatement!!!
I went camping for a week and the weather was awful all week, heavy rain and wind, the tent stood like it was made from bricks, not a single droplet leaked in... its very spacious and sturdy, a lot of storage space and extra pockets allow you to be more organised and saves you the hassle of putting things on the ground.
I am more than happy with the tent and definatelly recommend this product to everyone!!
We had to return a new Coleman Waterfall 5, too many small manufacturing errors. By contrast this Vango Icarus is excellent, very well made, thoughtful design and loads of space for the price. No surprise that it's now sold out at most outlets. Used it in moderate wind and rain as well as hot days, No issues at all. Erection with the highly tensioned poles needs to be practiced, but OK in the end, and a very solid tent as a result, especially when its unique tension straps system is used. Very happy.
