It’s Easter once again and spring has truly sprung. With the weather improving by the day and the outdoors bursting back into life, what better way to spend Easter than hopping along to some eggstraordinary outdoor events with the whole family? There is plenty going on up and down the UK this year, and this blog has highlighted just a few of the unique days out on offer to celebrate your Easter with. Medieval Eggstravaganza Weekend at Denbigh Castle

This medieval fortress can be found in the charming town of Denbigh, Wales. The castle's rich history dates back to the 13th century and throughout the centuries, the castle has been the site of many battles and sieges, playing an important role in Welsh history.

Today, Denbigh Castle is a popular tourist attraction that draws visitors from all over the world. It is renowned for its impressive architecture, stunning views, and rich cultural heritage. The castle also serves as a venue for various events and activities, including concerts, theatre performances, and historical reenactments. On Easter weekend 2024, it’s going all out, with the Easter Eggstravaganza!

Visitors on the first and last day (Friday 29th March & Monday 1st April) will have the chance to take part in the egg hunt! Where the castle grounds will be littered with colourful eggs to find. The first 300 children to be successful will win a chocolate prize.

Those who visit on Saturday or Sunday (30th & 31st) have the chance to see the Princes Retinue Medieval Living History Group. A group of experienced reenactors who use the castle as a backdrop to bring history to life with costumes, medieval tents, combat shows, have-a-go-archery and more. All set to medieval music from the troubadour band, The Whipperginnies!

Smithills Farm's Amazing Egg Hunt

For those in the northwest, there are Easter events taking place at Smithills Farm near Bolton this year that families won't want to miss. The events will be held on Saturday 23rd March, Sunday 24th March, and then Friday 29th March until Monday 1st April. Admission includes the standard farm admission fee, plus an additional £4 per child for the egg hunt.

Along with the Easter egg hunt will also be plenty of activities for children to enjoy, including special Easter egg prizes and Easter teddy bears for each child who participates, sweets and chocolates to indulge in, the chance to win other prizes and gifts, and the opportunity to take pictures with the Easter Bunny and Easter Chick. On top of all this, Smithills Farm has a wide selection of animals to see too. From farmyard favourites like cows, pigs, goats, sheep and donkeys. To the less usual llamas, owls, meerkats, skunks and deer. And rabbits of course!

Encounter live characters throughout the trail and discover treasures belonging to the various animals that call the castle grounds home. West Midlands Safari Park is getting ready for a BIG Easter celebration from March 23rd to April 7th, 2024, called the Easter Eggstravaganza. Families are invited to join in the festivities and enjoy a range of themed activities suitable for all ages. One of the highlights of the event are the Easter Egg Hunts, where visitors can participate in the search for hidden eggs while enjoying all the park's attractions. Guests will also get the chance to meet Bramble Bunny, who will be making appearances throughout the day to greet visitors, play games, and even take selfies.
