Millets Make Their Own #WildNightOut

Wild Night Out

Ever caught yourself staring out of an office window, dreaming that you were out there somewhere camping, fishing, walking or simply relaxing under a blue sky? I think secretly we all have. There’s certainly something primitive in us that makes us fantasise about escaping everyday life and spending our time in the great outdoors as often as we can. In a world where too many of us stay cooped up in our offices or homes, we challenge you to be bold, break the mould and venture outdoors. We promise you won’t regret it.

29th June 2019 marked what has become a firm favourite in the outdoor calendar, ‘Wild Night Out’. Started by the non-for-profit organisation, Explorers Connect, they aim to encourage everyone to get outside. The Millets team decided to escape the office last week and enjoy a Wild Camp Out! If you missed it on our Instagram account, here’s what we got up to.

#WildNightOut2019

Friday 28th June 2019, 4pm… As the laptop shuts down the excitement builds, it’s time to get outdoors! After collecting supplies to feed the fire and ourselves, the team began a planned litter pick around our chosen camping pitch to do our bit for nature. It’s important to protect our green spaces and we encourage everyone to spread the word to keep Britain litter-free.

Once the litter pick was complete it was time to set up camp. Between us, we had a great variety of small weekend tents including the Eurohike Cairns 2 and Eurohike Ribble 4. These great little tents are perfect for short camping trips and festivals as they are easy to pitch and offer great value for money. Flags, fairy lights and bunting are a great way to personalise your pitch.

Litter Picking

All this activity had made us hungry and so we lit the Biolite Firepit and set about cooking our tasty tea. The Firepit is the ultimate campsite gadget, guaranteed to have your friends pestering you to put on BBQs throughout the summer. It uses air jets to drive oxygen into the fire to improve combustion whilst producing less smoke; a common annoyance with conventional campfires. You can read our in-depth review of the Biolite Firepit here.

With our bellies full, the team spent the remainder of the night relaxing together with the fire crackling happily before us. As darkness drew in, we toasted marshmallows and made delicious s’mores before heading to bed having had a great adventure.

Did you get outdoors over the weekend, or thinking of planning a trip for the summer? Share the snaps and tales of your adventures with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #OutdoorExplorer. Remember, you can enjoy your own Wild Night Out at any time. We hope you’ve been inspired! Click here for our Top 5 Family Adventures you can enjoy this summer.
