Get Crafty With Millets: How to Paint a Santa Stone

As parents, you may be struggling to think of ways to get your kids outside, especially as days turn colder and darker. Or maybe you’re worried about keeping them busy over Christmas holidays. That’s where we come in! And the best thing? It’s all free.

We have put together a series of crafts that encourage your children to put down their screens, get their coats on and get arty. From making leaf selfies to creating Christmas crafts, we have lots coming up for them to get stuck into.

So, supervise and hand it over. This one’s for them!

This activity is all about Christmas! Handmade decorations can be the most fun, and even better when they’re for the garden. It’s time to get your hands dirty, pick a pebble, and paint it like Santa!

First of all, you will need…

Supplies:

  • Outdoor/Acrylic paint
  • Outdoor varnish/sealer
  • Smooth rocks
  • Paintbrushes
  • Mind

Step one: Find your rock and get painting.

Here comes the time to get outside. Get your shoes on and see if you can find the flattest pebble of all. It will help to have a few – that way, you can make a collection or have some to test on!

And now it's time to get painting. Remember, if you’re not sure how to paint Santa, you can follow our video linked below.

Once you have painted it, let it dry and then add a layer of varnish or sealer on. This will keep it protected outside.

    Step two: Find a home.

Once you’ve finished painting, sealing and letting it dry, it’s time to give your art a home. Perhaps you have a flower bed that needs a bit of Christmas spirit, or a front lawn that could do with some joy. Pop it down and let your neighbours and friends admire!
