Hi-Tec: Behind The Brand

Born in 1974, Hi-Tec started life as a sports shoe company, originally producing their iconic squash footwear. Over the past 40 years, they have grown their range to cater for several different sports including football, tennis, golf and of course, the outdoors. How well do you know the brand? Here's five things you may not know about Hi-Tec, innovators in footwear and now clothing.

1. Impressive Achievements
In 1990, the Altitude IV was named the number one hiking boot (in America); 1995 saw Hi-Tec become the official shoe of Wimbledon; their Liquid Mountaineering video won the 2011 Cannes Lion Award; the Zuuk shoe wins Footwear Product of the Year Award at the 2013 Great Outdoors Awards; and that’s just to name a few!

2. New Clothing Has Landed
Autumn/Winter 2018 sees Hi-Tec launch a brand new collection of Men's Clothing, available exclusively at Millets. From cosy hoodies and quality tees, to dependable waterproof jackets and cosy insulated jackets, there is something for any modern man. The collection brings sleek urban style to those seeking great value gear that will keep you comfortable from city street to off-road path. Shop the Collection here

3. Leaders in Footwear Innovation
A huge innovation in walking footwear, the Hi-Tec Navigators changed the way we walk. The shoes incorporate a vibrating pod in the sole connected to a phone app via Bluetooth. Using different vibrations, they notify the user the direction to walk in or if they have arrived/gone the wrong way. Not only that, they’re fully waterproof and kitted out with a Michelin® (yes, the tyre manufacturer) rubber outsole – pretty cool!.

4. Ambassadors
With the slogan ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things’, all four of their ambassadors represent the multitude of areas that Hi-Tec cater for. From squash, to walking, to writing to athletes, Hi-Tec have ambassadors to inspire the next generation.

5. Worldwide Reach
With over 10 partners, Hi-Tec sponsor events all over the globe. From Keswick Mountain Festival here in the UK, to ‘The Walk of the World’ in the Netherlands, Hi-Tec help to give you the opportunity to do the activity you want, where you want to do it.
