Camping Top Picks By Our Experts

With the camping season nearly upon us we asked our experts to tell us about their favourite products to take to the campsite - why not add a few of them to your camping set.

I have been working in Product Development for over 5 years, 3 of which have been in camping and outdoor equipment. I really enjoy travelling and went backpacking for two years after university, South America is next on my to-do list. I also enjoy walking and hope to do some wild camping this summer to put some more of the kit to test.

DANIELLE'S TOP PICKS

Berghaus Air Tents

“We launched the Berghaus Air Tent range last year which took the camping world by storm because of their amazing price and uncompromised quality . The 6000mm HH, robust TPU air tubes which inflate in seconds, along with the extensive list of features makes this my number one choice in family tents.  This year we have a number of matching accessories available to buy including footprints and universal carpets. I can’t wait to take mine out again this Easter!”

Eurohike Helvellyn Rucksack

“Packed with features, the new Helvellyn Rucksack range is appealing to backpackers, D of E students or those who just want to take on the great outdoors. Available in two sizes, both include an adjustable, padded mesh back system, built in rain cover, multiple attachment points and a whole host of storage compartments. I’m taking the 65+10 model with me on a two week holiday to Thailand next week!”

Eurohike Cairns 5 DLX Tent

“This year we extended the Cairns tent range to include a 4 man and 5 man option. The Cairns 5 DLX has a small pack size, but is big enough to comfortably sleep 5 people and even has standing height in the sleeping compartment. The porch has a linked in groundsheet to prevent leaks and drafts along with windows with curtains for privacy. As well as ample room to store all your kit, the porch even has space for a few camping chairs so you can sit and enjoy the views come rain or shine."

I started working in the outdoor industry back in 2007 as a store manager at a long established camping and outdoor centre. At the time I joined from a DIY store management background, and as such wasn’t an outdoors person - that soon changed and I quickly immersed myself in all things outdoor living. My family and I enjoy getting away at least twice a year and I try and get out in to the hills at least 2 or 3 times a year.

As my product knowledge grew, I moved in to a buying position – looking after tents and sleeping equipment. I have also spent time working for a few outdoor brands – Coleman/CampinGaz being the most notable. I now look after camping & outdoor living equipment across Blacks, Millets & Ultimate Outdoors, which covers everything from a tent peg up to a down sleeping bag.

DAVE'S TOP PICKS

Berghaus Peak & Peak PRO Technical Tents

"Launched in conjunction with our hugely successful Air tent range, the Peak & Peak PRO tents have really gained some traction in the Market place through 2015.  I now own a Peak PRO 3.2 and a Peak 3.3. I have camped all over the UK in these tents and will be packing my car again on the 9th of Feb as I head off to our annual Half-Term trip to Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands."

Helinox Chair One

"This amazing bit of kit has been part of my camp set up for a few years now and I very rarely go anywhere without one. I even keep a few in the car – you never know when a chair will come in handy!

High quality DAC poles give this chair its strength and you won’t believe its pack size! It is so compact and lightweight, it weighs in at less than a kilo – but will happily support an occupant over 140kg!"

CampinGaz Camping Chef Folding Compact Stove

"Another ever present item in my family camp set for the last two years. As any other camping geek, my set up seems to get bigger and more vast each year, so I needed to find a way of stealing some space somewhere in my set up. The answer was to get a more slim line, compact stove (amongst other things) my old stove was the original camping chef and I also took a BBQ. Now I have the folding, compact Camping Chef and I use a hot plate griddle on top of the burners instead of taking a BBQ! Perfect."
