Not waterproof
Comfortable, sturdy and waterproof. Excellent.
I have been a user of Salomon Quest boots for years , but the quality of the last pair was so poor, I needed to change. Bought these OEX boots in York and I have been delighted with them. Comfortable straight out of the box; kept my feet dry on 2 wet January walks on the Yorkshire Wolds, and performed brilliantly on a week's mountain walking on La Gomera in the Canaries. They took a lot of punishment on the steep stony paths on the island but after a quick wipe down on our return, they look as good as new. They feel secure and supportive throught the day. A no-nonsense quality product.
The Best Walking Boots I’ve had in a Long Time
These boots have been comfortable from the first wear, they are definitely waterproof, my father blasted them with a jet washer this morning and my feet remained bone dry.
I haven’t tested them in long grass yet like another reviewer, but I’ve found with previous pairs of other branded waterproof walking boots that in those conditions my socks absorbed the water and that went down into the shoe and made my feet wet, but the shoes themselves were waterproof on the outside, so perhaps that was the case as these OEX ones have been perfect for me so far.
Not waterproof !
I bought a pair of these in May 2023 and haven't worn them much over the summer, just 2 or 3 times but in dry conditions. Today, 16th October I tried them in long wet grass but not raining and they were NOT waterproof at all. Came back after 4 hours with wet feet. Going to try returning them to store tomorrow to try and get a refund ... wish me luck !
On the plus side they are very comfortable but obviously as they claim to be waterproof then they are clearly not up to specification.
I would tell anyone to avoid these boots.
Excellent all rounders
Firstly the service I received in store at Whitehaven was second to none. Secondly after looking at a couple of reviews and test fitting. I decided to buy these. For the price they really are great all round boots. I done 10 mile in wet slippy conditions the day I bought these. My feet were dry and comfortable throughout. Good sole grip in a mix of terrain and definitely waterproof. For the money they’re excellent

I brought these boots for my son who is doing the ten tors challenge, they leak more than a hose pipe! He spent one day on the moors fully kitted for wet weather (we are a walking family) the boots failed miserably, he couldn’t complete the 1st day of training because his feet were literally soaked right though, you could actually pour the water out of the boots. We then came home dried the boots and left them in a shallow bowl of water for 30 mins with kitchen towel in the toes, which we wrung out, I wish I could upload the video…. DO NOT BUY THESE BOOTS! poor quality, will be returned asap
